چکیده
In this study, conventional and organic olive tree nurseries were compared through a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) analysis to identify processes that have greater environmental impact which of the two systems leads lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Carbon sequestration in woody biomass plants grown with both management was also considered. The research carried out on six nurseries, four managed an system, located nursery district Pescia (Tuscany, Italy). functional unit considered two-year-old pot-grown (pot 15 cm Ø) results expressed terms kg CO2 equivalent (CO2eq). all analyzed, LCA showed pots highest CO2eq emission source (45–63%), followed by potting mix (22.6–32.1%). This due use plastic peat for growing media. Organic found definite positive influence decrease GHG, reducing emissions up 13% nurseries. Considering carbon stocked tissues seedlings, reduction attained 15.7% though slightly (−6.7%) amount incorporated into detected light our results, conversion industry from has potential reduce its footprint.

Monitoring Carbon Sequestration and Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Irrigated AgroEcosystems
Conventional field cropping systems have been criticized as being unsustainable because they contribute to on-farm and off-farm environmental degradation, and are often economically uncertain. Methods to increase environmental and economic sustainability are needed. There is a critical need to develop management technologies to maximize yield and crop quality yet improve environmental impacts o...
متن کاملSoil organic carbon sequestration and agricultural greenhouse gas emissions in the southeastern USA
Agriculture in the southeastern USA can be highly productive (i.e., high photosynthetic fixation of atmospheric CO2) due to warm-moist climatic conditions. However, its impacts on greenhouse gas emissions and mitigation potential have not been thoroughly characterized. This paper is a review and synthesis of literature pertaining to soil organic C (SOC) sequestration and greenhouse gas emission...

متن کاملModeling impacts of carbon sequestration on net greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural soils in China
[1] Soil organic carbon (SOC) contents in many farmlands have been depleted because of the long-term history of intensive cultivation in China. Chinese farmers are encouraged to adopt alternative management practices on their farms to sequester SOC. On the basis of the availability of carbon (C) resources in the rural areas in China, the most promising practices are (1) incorporating more crop ...
